Boyds Bears

Boyds Bears was founded by Justina Unger and her husband Gary M. Lowenthal.
The first bear they made was a stuffed bear made for their newborn son, Matthew. They later began making and selling stuffed bears, and the bears became known as "Boyds Bears" for the town of Boyds in Maryland where they lived and ran their business.
These plush bears and the rabbits too was hugely popular.
In 1984 they began sculpting with resin, at first making the miniature houses called "The Gnomes Homes".
The first resin bears were introduced in 1993.
